Jani Parsons is an award-winning Canadian pianist and teacher, holding a bachelors degree in performance from the Vancouver Academy of Music and a masters degree in performance and pedagogy from the University of Michigan in addition to a performer’s certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Jani is currently a candidate for the Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Michigan, with diverse interests in performance, pedagogy, theory, and new music performance. She is active in premiering and promoting new music, has been featured on CBC Radio 2 as semi-finalist of the Eckhardt-Grammatté Contemporary Music Competition. She has performed throughout Canada and the United States, at the Chan Centre for the Arts, Banff Centre for the Arts, and Chicago’s Ravinia Festival with Latitude 49, a mixed chamber ensemble she co-founded. A passionate teacher, Jani maintains a private studio of prize-winning pupils while serving as faculty in the PPLP program at the University of Michigan. She teaches at Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, and is music director at Advent Episcopal Church in West Bloomfield.
