Teen Living Programs Residency Needs Your Help!

Fifth House Ensemble has hosted two residencies at Teen Living Programs since January, offering young people experiencing homelessness guided composition and entrepreneurship training. We are currently finishing up our second residency which will culminate in a final, professional-level performance designed and carried out by TLP clients. We have the funds necessary to complete the residency, but could use your help to support a memorable and successful final concert!

The concert will take place at OneStop Productions and they are asking $800 to reserve the space.

If we raise $500: significantly assist in covering the cost of the venue

If we raise $800: cover the entire cost of the venue

However, our goal is $1000: cover the venue cost AND pay the performing musicians!

What happens at Teen Living Programs

While Fifth House musicians show up each week to teach composition and songwriting, public speaking, performance skills, and job readiness, their impact endures far beyond what can be offered in a classroom. Your contributions make it possible for participants to define skills necessary to sustain themselves professionally and financially upon completion of the program through participation in an arts program.

Success Story

Ron "Success" has used the skills gained through his participation in Fifth House residencies to go on to teach his own songwriting class at Teen Living Programs

Ron “Success,” Fifth House residency participant

“I’ve been working with Success for around 4 months, now, and I’ve seen immense growth in the way that he handles professional and personal communication. He’s emerged as a mentor for a few of the clients at Teen Living Programs and often steps in as a mediator to work through conflict among clients with opposing creative ideas. He leads not only through his words, but by his actions, and as he plans his own events, he demonstrates the level of professionalism and skill that he hopes to foster in the clients at Teen Living Programs.” -Eric Heidbreder, Teen Living Programs lead musician

Please be generous!

For almost 40 years, Teen Living Programs has supported and strengthened youth, ages 14-24, on Chicago’s south side, in neighborhoods of high poverty and violence, and where critical supportive services are lacking.
