Allie Porter
Allie Porter is a dedicated performer, programmer, and supporter of contemporary music. In 2019, she won a GRAMMY Award as part of The Crossing’s recording of The Zealot Canticles by Lansing McLoskey. Past performances include the world premiere of Julia Wolfe’s Fire in my mouth with the New York Philharmonic and The Crossing, the world premiere of Andrew Lovett’s opera The Analysing Engine (Sally) at Princeton University, the world premiere of The Bells by Juliana Hall, the premieres of five commissioned works for her ensemble Poor Puppet, and as a featured soloist in the recording of John Luther Adams’ Canticles of the Holy Wind with The Crossing. She has studied at New Music on the Point, the Cortona Sessions for New Music, the Banff Center for Arts and Creativity, and the Nief-Norf Summer Festival. A passionate educator, she has taught at Muhlenberg College, the College of Saint Elizabeth, the Rutgers High School Musical Theater Academy, and Princeton Day School.
Ms Porter has worked behind the scenes as an administrator for the past five years, helping organizations produce concerts, run social media campaigns, and to create print materials. She founded Contemporary Undercurrent of Song Project, a concert series for new vocal music that ran for four seasons in Princeton NJ. Between 2014 and 2018, she worked for the Resonant Bodies Festival, the Cortona Sessions for New Music, and the Nief Norf Summer Festival.
