Lisa Bielawa's Broadcast from Home Part 1

Kaufman Music Center presents a free online listening event of the entire cycle of composer Lisa Bielawa’s Broadcast From Home, an inspired musical response to the shelter-in-place measure put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Audiences will have the opportunity to hear the work in its entirety, as well as Lisa live in conversation with musicians from around the globe who participated in the project. The conversations will be moderated by John Glover, Kaufman Music Center’s Director of Artistic Planning.

August 20 and 21 will be the first opportunity to hear the full work in its entirety and hear insights from Lisa and her collaborators, some of whom are known to her only through their participation in this project, about the creation of Broadcast From Home. (from Kaufman Music Center)

“Broadcast from Home is a new large-scale work open to contributions from the public that will evolve and premiere in sections here on this page. Then, when group gatherings are possible again, we can perform the whole piece live to memorialize the journey we have completed.

I am collecting: your testimonies, reflecting on personal experience during this time of pandemic and global activism; and your voices singing melodies that I will write using these testimonies. Your voices will be the building blocks of the new work, which will be released in chapters each Thursday.” (from Lisa Bielawa)

This online event is FREE and will be broadcast on Kaufman Music Center's Facebook page in two parts on August 20 and 21 at 2 pm ET.
