December Reflections -- Weekly Inspiration from Crystal

This week's Weekly Inspiration is a bit of holiday insight from our oboe player, Crystal.  I hope your Decembers are all shaping up to be warm and full of wonderful holiday music!  Check back at the end of each week for more Weekly Inspiration on the Fifth House Blog!

Today it is December. I can hardly believe it…December already? Where did the fall go?  Oh yeah, it was filled with rehearsals, concerts, days at the park, teaching, more rehearsals, educational shows, a trip to Flagstaff, and did I already say rehearsals?  Here I am, post-Thanksgiving, on the precipice of the holiday season…or already in the thick of it, depending on who you ask.  Tomorrow I will play my first holiday concert of the season: Tchaikovsky’s winter classic The Nutcracker.  This is a fun time of year—I get musical diversions in the way of holiday concerts: Nutcrackers, Messiahs, holiday pops, and midnight masses.  December is a great time to be an oboist!  It reminds me that music is celebration in so many ways, to so many people.  Here’s wishing you all a season full of music of all kinds!
