School of Music Convocation: Fifth House Ensemble, Artists-in-Residence Friday, September 13, 2013 10:20–11:20 a.m. Green Center, Kresge Auditorium The innovative chamber-music group presents “Putting Your Audience Center Stage.” Much of what classical musicians focus on has to do with crafting programs. Mostly Mozart? Basically Beethoven? Russian Symphony Night? Fantastic! We know how to create thematic connections between musical works, but is that what it takes to engage new audiences in our art? This workshop teaches the basics of psychographic audience analysis through hands-on, interactive activities and case studies. Understanding audiences allows artists to put the public at the center of not only their marketing efforts, but also the program design itself.
