Issue 20
Can you believe we've been at this for 20 weeks?? Time sure flies when you're frantically trying to keep up with telling you all about Fifth House events while also consistently collecting stupid videos and memes. Don't worry though, we're not getting tired in the slightest and are looking forward to bringing you weeks and weeks of more content!

WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT
Presto! Tour with Students from Lawrence University - Written by Parker Nelson
Over the past month or so, Fifth House Ensemble has been working with Lawrence University to assist organizing parts of their Presto! Tour, an outreach tour for members of Lawrence choirs in Chicago. This past Friday and Saturday finally had the students traveling from Wisconsin to Chicago to perform at the different venues they had chosen. One group of students was at YEPP, a theatre group with a cast made up entirely of trans-identified teens, and Sarah's Circle a homelessness services provider for women.
For some students, this was their first experience with outreach and I'm extremely proud of the work they put into making these visits happen. I was one the Fifth House members assigned to the Sarah's Circle location and also helped run a workshop on Saturday that served as a reflection period for the students as well as a window into how projects such as this are designed and implemented successfully.
I was so proud to see so many students get out of their comfort zones and really take the true purpose of these outreach visits to heart. At Sarah's Circle, there were a number of instances where individual students made connections with participants either by breaking off from their large choir to sing to individuals, or, making participants feel comfortable and welcome in trying new things. It was especially telling how the ladies of Sarah's Circle enjoyed the experience from the feedback we received afterwards. One woman told us that she was so thankful for us being there and brightening her day and probably her entire week. There were also a number of great questions and observations made in the workshop that will hopefully lead to some young minds beginning to think about how to use music to shape the communities around them in a more positive way. Congrats to everyone who participated this week!
WHERE IN THE FIFTH IS UNCLE TRAVELING MATT?
From the journal of Uncle Traveling Matt:
"Between new education curriculum, education performances, and hosting some students from the far away land of 'Appleton', it has been a busy day. I was afraid that I was near collapse on a number of occasions, but was finally able to get some rest. It was a great week but we all need a good recharge every now and then."
RANDOM MUSIC WE’RE DIGGING THIS WEEK
I certainly wasn't detoxing by watching some old Daria episodes (yeah, that MTV show) and heard this song and then went and bought it. Nope. Definitely not.

Herine's son has officially learned that the colored liquid in the Cascade pods are not gummies and are very poisonous. (Don't worry, it wasn't because he ate any)
Charlene is rolling in rosin!
Eric started his residency work at Ravinia and Parker is too lazy to realize that he didn't see it soon enough to put it higher than #9.
Dan's famous McDonald's ads are now public knowledge. Thank you Jason Vieaux!

One more week to go,
So close to reaching Spring break,
So much work to do...

Sometimes weeks just don't go the way you planned them. Sometimes you try as hard as you can not to screw up but it happens anyway. Sometimes people are jerks and kick you when you're down. Sometime I laugh at it happening to others. Whoops.
SHOWER THOUGHTS
Why isn't alcohol heavily discounted after St. Patrick's Day the way candy is after Valentine's Day?
COMIC
Don't be sheep.
