Welcome New 5HE Staff Member, Carole!
Announcement time!!! We are *very* lucky to be adding Carole Deeter to our staff roster as our new Operations & Marketing Director. Carole worked with 5HE last season as stage manager for The Weaver's Tales, doing the incredibly difficult job of herding musicians and actors, telling us where to be, juggling the many moving parts of our collaborative production, and keeping us organized - all with a smile. We're delighted to bring her on board!
And now, a few words from Carole herself:
I feel so blessed to be joining 5HE doing Operations & Marketing! I was born in North Carolina, but I grew up in Indianapolis. I graduated from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, IN in 2008 with a BA in Theatre/Performance Studies & a minor in InterCultural Studies. While at Saint Mary's, I focused on stage management, and when I wasn't running rehearsals or performances for the theatre & music departments, I was participating in various music ensembles at the University of Notre Dame across the street. I spent 3 years as a member of the clarinet section in the Band of the Fighting Irish (ND's marching band) and Notre Dame's basketball band! Go Irish!
After graduating, I moved back to Indy & took a two year job working as a production assistant at the Indiana Repertory Theatre. While PAing at IRT, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with some amazingly talented directors, designers, and actors while learning and growing as a stage manager. I spent the summers of 2009 & 2010 stage managing at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival in Bloomington/Normal, IL, and in August 2010 I made the excellent life choice of moving to Chicago!
Since living in Chicago, I have been floor managing with Victory Gardens Theatre and stage managing with American Blues Theatre. Most importantly, I stage managed Fifth House Ensemble's The Weaver's Tales series this year!
When I'm not working in the theatre or with Fifth House, I can be found reading anything I can, crocheting the day away, drinking Diet Coke, and watching Bones. I'm also a die hard sports fan and obsessively watch Notre Dame football, the New York Yankees, and the Indianapolis Colts (in that order).
I'm looking forward to getting back to working with music, and I'm especially excited to be working with a group who so mixes media to create performances that involve visual & auditory stimulation! Additionally, I believe that exposure to the arts at a young age is crucial for the development of children, so I love what 5HE does with their education and outreach!
